Happy New Year Everyone!
I would have hoped I would be able to extend that greeting to all of you in person but of course things change so rapidly now. As you may know we were planning to return to almost full capacity and space usage and were well on our way to that goal when Omicron hit. Regrettably due to the high surge of this new variant the Ontario Government reinstated Covid protocols to protect the citizens and try to blunt the surge.
The Board of Directors and the Reopening Committee held a special meeting on January 5, 2022. The following motion was unanimously approved. The Aurora Seniors Association will remain closed for in person activities at the Aurora Seniors Centre until such time as the Town of Aurora reopens their in person activities at the Centre. The projected date for reopening the Centre for both Town and ASA in person activities is now Monday, February 14, if all goes well. Information regarding registering for in person activities will be provided closer to that date.
I know you have heard all this before over the last two years and believe me the members of both the Board and the Reopening Committee are as disappointed with this turn of events as anyone. However, we must be sure that when we do, finally, reopen that we do it in such a way as to provide the safest venue possible for our members. In the meantime we will still provide some activities over Zoom and Senior Centre Without Walls will continue to offer virtual programs for your enjoyment. I’d like to stress that the Board and the Reopening Committee continue to meet regularly to keep up with the latest information and guidance coming from all levels of Government.
We will keep you informed through the Website, the Newsletter and through E flashes. The Board would like to sincerely thank you for the continued understanding and patience you have shown through these last 22 months. It’s been tough on all of us!
Hoping to see you all soon. Stay safe.
